ok i got a split around 3 inches long on my back pipe (pmsl)

no seriously i have , its on a bend too . cant weld it its too thin to grind any off . and wont last more than a day but i need to patch it for mot . got new full pipe in sussex ( but is no good there ) so how to fix it quick for this bastard mot

strap it or something ????

what products are available ???:bow:bow:bow:bow:bow:bow

instead of welding the split, weld a plate on bigger to find better metal, simples,:thumb2

no can do buddy.... there is nothing left of it i really couldnt grind any of it without making it a big pile of rusty dust on the floor

strap might work clamped on and filled etc

i used to have an old citroen cx estate years ago and the exaust was virtualy completely made of baby milk tins cut up wraped round and held in place with jubilee clips or twisted wire. Not much help to you though as i don't think it ever had an MOT.

thats the sort of repair i was thinking combined with some fire sealant or woodburner strings etc .... its only gotta last the day... even had to do bloody legal number plates too and fix my brakes ... im really not happy bloody jobs worths

apparently with many items if it's not there they can't test it, ie a seat or even the bonnet, so......

just take the exhaust off :lol :lol :lol

but please read my disclaimer at the foot of this posting first!

Holts used to make an exhaust bandage, it was made from some kind of fireproof felt with a foil backing impregnated with exhaust paste, you just moistend it and wrapped it round and secured it with a bit of wire till it set, worked a treat, dont know if it is still available, but failing that a small piece of thin ali with liberal amounts of gun gum held with a good wrapping of wire should do, Rick

It is and still available & works well :thumb2

Avoid the Halfords one, says the same on the packet about fixing blah blah but is inferior.

Used both last year trying to bodge an exhaust joint :augie

Have used a steel putty which withstands high temps, even used it on manifolds, called liquid steel or similar - loads of it on ebay, costs about £7.
