Many Thanks to you all for the help and advise, sourced an exhaust manifold from Ebay. fitting tomorrow.:)

SORTED.:thumb2
Exhaust manifold fitted, MOT'd on Friday, emissions just in range! only needed 1 x fog light and 1 x stop light bulbs (382). See if it can improve on the 16mpg

16 mpg hell something is wrong there, I get 21 when towing, not so sure about other times as it is the wifes car and I cant monitor the fill ups, but around 25, your old manifold looked well cracked, never seen one like that, suggests getting too hot, certainly too much fuel, what colour are the plugs after a run? The fuel consumption was prior to fitting the exhaust manifold which was cracked 3/4 of its circumference, its was chuffing like a train:augie, someone had attempted to weld it up as seen in the picture. I think this may well be the cause of the heavy fuel consumption throwing the lambda into turmoil, will be giving it a service on my return home next month and will be able to update on the mpg. Did pull the plugs and correct gap and colour and also got the trusty old vacuum gauge on it and all readings were spot on, as I had the suspicion of a block exhaust. I have noticed a slight flat spot at about 2500rpm, but its not missing just flat till about 2800rpm? Filled the tank and done 60 miles so far and gauge as hardly moved so fingers crossed.
Of cause will update when serviced and accurate mpg. Thanks Rick and Zippy
