Hi all and thanks for having me :thumb2

I am new to the forum, my name is Richard and I need a little help and advice regarding the removal of the roof rails on my terrano 2 (Developed a water leak)? :doh Anyone got any ideas lol

I enjoy all things shooting and I came across this terrano at a very good price. Its perfect for climbing around the farms and over the fields. It needs a little work but its a good motor.

Thank you.:thumbs

Richard.

Hi Richard, welcome to the forum.

What makes you think that the roof rails are leaking?

Do you have a sun roof, if so, sometimes the pipes on the drains split and comes loose, and wets the roof area.

Hope it helps.

best regards,
Rustic

Hello, I think you have to lower the headlining to access the bolts, I'm sure there have been threads on here before about this.

Welcome to the forum dude :thumb2

You will find a good bunch on here always willing to help. Also if you need some work doing to the terrano the download section is a bible!!! :D

Someone will be on shortly with more info im sure :thumbs

welcome to the best forum on the internet.
as above where are you finding water?and what makes you think its from the rail?
steve

Std fit roof rails are fixed from above, no need to drop headlining.
However other leak suspects are higher on the list.
Pay up and I'll tell you where :lol

hi and thanks for the reply.

I have took the roof lining down on the passenger side and the water is dripping off the roof rail bolts. It looks like someone has drilled a small hole just at the side of the seal so the water is getting in. I want to take off the whole roof rail so I can reseal under it and bolt it back down. I have got the middle one undone but cant seem to move the front and rear outer bits......it bolts from the top through in to captivated bolts. Just need to find a way to get to the allen bolts but I need remove the top section to get to them.....hope this makes sense lol. I will take a picture when I get in tomorrow.

Thanks everyone else for the warm welcome :thumbs:thumbs

Hi Steve.

The sunroof is sound.....the mounting plates are loose on the roof rails, water is dripping off the bolts in the roof, making the roof lining wet. All I want to do is remove the entire roof rail, mounting plates, rubbers, seal with tiger seal and re-fit everything.

The water dripping off the bolts kind of give it away lol

Apart from the water leak everything else seems ok....could do with a new clutch at some point soon, got 11 months MOT on it so all is good.

Thanks Steve :thumbs

As stated above, you get a whole lot more if you pay a measly £10 and become a full member, links to downloads and many fixes and mods for these trucks.:thumb2

My favourite saying...
"Fixing faults you never knew you had" :augie

Most niggling fixes on these trucks are free, or very cheap. Another reason I have owned mine for over 18 years, yes eighteen and a half years.
:doh
Re the hole in the roof, maybe a previous owner had a roof bar with lights, or even a cb radio aerial, and this was where the wire was routed:nenau.

Did you say 18.5 years !!!! as in eighteen and a half years :eek:

You've never mentioned that fact before Rustic:lol:lol

It's an age thing...
maybe I should put it in my signature...

Edit:
I have already...:doh :lol:lol

I have a big expense coming up soon though that I need to budget for, I need to change the oil. :nenau:nenau
Actually I bought the Castrol GTX oil a few months back, when Tesco had it at half price.
Yes I did post the offer too.

Mind you, I put £50 of diesel in the other day, and the tank only registered just over 1/2 :doh

Just shows what a bit of TLC can do, wax oiled it regular and kept up with general maintenance, so now got as good a truck as ever, well done Rustic, wish I could do it, but never had the time or interest, not ever washed mine cept at MOT time like now, expect 80 Kg off crap will be washed of tomorrow, MOT Monday, Rick
