hi guys. not been on for a while so will appologise now for not keeping in touch. right the prob with the truck. as a few might know ive got the R3MR variant of the terrano the same as extreme used to have but not sure if he still has his. thing is i got starter solenoid probs. will turn over when i do the usual with a screwdriver accross the points on the solenoid but wont turn with the key. was intermittent before but all the time now. thing is im not sure what engine it is. its the 2.7TD but been told its the mistral running gear which is the same as the maveric which is supposed to have the transit engine in it but im not sure and dont want to pay out for another starter that wont fit. any ideas guys?:thumbs

well, i've never heard of any terrano with a transit engine, a maverick and a terrano 2 are the same and a mistral is a bit of a one off (grey import from japan), try the parts listings at Milner off road. I'm sure some bright spark will come up with a link :thumb2

there are two ford mavericks one terrano badged as Ford the other is I bleive is a Mazda badged as Ford. the two vehicles are completely different, try putting "maverick" into ebay and see what you get. If you have a 2.7l engine then I think it will be the terrano one. regards bri

True, the later one was a rebadged mazda Tribute 'soft-roader'.....but of course still didn't have a transit engine.

taximan will it turn over if you turn the key really slowly? Not sure about the R3M but the Terrano/Maverick ignition switch backplate contacts are prone to burning out....a replacement backplate sorts the problem.
