engine swap

hi , got a 2.8 patrol gr se td . just done 8,ooo mile round trip to west africa,when fully loaded found it to be a bit under powered,is it possible to put a 4.2 in to this model.the 2.8 was struggling sometimes,maybe a bigger engine will not have to work so hard, with better fuel consumtion. :?:

Got car back and it feels a lot more powerfull.

can't check mpg etc for the next 2 weeks as i'm at work :twisted:

1st check will be when going to national rally on 26th.

thanks for info sound maybe the way to go, was going to recon my engine before i did any upgrades, got a quote back this morning £3.500
just come out of shock !! seems a bit high, or am i out of touch ?

to put the 4.2 into yours you will need the 4.2 gearbox
as well. and the uk 4.2 was never turbo'd so the
power aint much difference. there is a guy in oz who
has just put a RB25DET out of a R33 nissan skyline into
his 2.8. They share the same gearbox and engine mounts
so its a pretty straight forward swap, just waiting for his
videos, he says it spins his 33's in the dry, and as 250 RWHP
at the mo, 8O

if i could find one cheap, im doing it! or 5.7 V8 chevy 8)
