Wouldnt worry about the miles if the truck drives well thats about average for the year anyway

Check the gear box for rattles, when in neutral, press clutch in, listen, should be quiet, then release clutch, if noisy now, then the input shaft bearing in the gearbox is probably worn out. bye bye...:doh

Check auto hubs work, and low ratio too.
Rock car from side to side and listen for clicks and clunks.

Could be drop links on anti roll bar especially at the front, or top or bottom ball joints on front suspension.

Not expensive to sort, but can help reduce the price a few hundred.

Check front wings for rot around wheel arches, inner wings, look inside bonnet towards the back and low down.
Check sills, also check front seam on the fuel tank, they corrode here, and eventually the rust forces the seam apart.:doh
Lift the carpet under the rear seat... Look at rear seat belt anchor bolts.
You might be shocked at what you find:doh

Engine wise, as said just about run in, it shouldn't burn any oil with this low mileage.

These engines were used in the London Taxis during the 80's onwards, and they can do 400 - 500 k miles.

Good luck with the purchase, remember you will always get help and great advice on this site.

Best regards,

Rustic

the 1999 T2 TDi has just clocked over the 100K, and the 1990 T1 TD was at 92222 yesterday...

mine is just coming up to 180,000 mls ..... but its not a t2

my 96 petrol has just clocked 131,000 still going strong, Rick

with the way the speedo runs out of sync with reality it could well of only done 90k ! ours is 10mph out after 20mph so our 70k terry has probably done way less in real terms.

you have a good point there, it is possible however that the speed indicator is out but the odometer is correct, so best way to prove this is run a measured mile, Rick

Thanks for all the replies, got the terranno little bit of welding to do on rear chassis and one small patch on os inner sill.all the floor wheel arches body mounting points all good the mountings that come to the front bumper under arches need some work but main cross member at front of chassis good.the steel member right behind front bumper will need attention.drives and sounds good smooth gearchange no noises,a little bit when in neutral but not a lot only just hear it.
cheers cornish.
