Small problem with maverick today. Light on the dash is on ,the one with the engine on it.

From what I can see on the TDI this is the immobiliser light. The car was a bit slow to start as if the battery is getting low and I think as the tow sockets are full of mud there may be a short.

Do you think this is the problem?

Can I reset the light by disconecting the battery for a while?

hi brian, thats the mil light, did your truck go into limp home mode (30mph)?
look in down loads and check the code by doing the flash test (easy) count the flashes as instructed and then look up the code, it's all in the down loads, had to do mine this week. :thumbs

As Tez sez, thats the engine management warning light, although it doesn't always limp home - in fact sometimes it just goes away and you never know why it came on...happened to me a few times.

But a good idea to see what the code was in case its something you need to address....

MIL light will also show if there is water in the fuel filter, there's tap to drain on bottom of filter.

Thanks all, not had a chance to look at the car today but think probably got a short somewhere as the engine bay was completely covered in mud last sunday and jetwashed on monday , the tow sockets still are covered. The car has run perfectly since but battery seems a little under power pointing towards a power drain somewhere.

Will check the codes and WD40 every thing tomorrow . Hope that will cure it as im towing the caravan down to cornwall on sunday for xmas.

Went out to a flat battery this morning so cleaned up all the electrics and sprayed everything with WD40, charged the battery and all back to normal ;O)

Next job now is to move the tow sockets out of harms way.

thanks again for the replies
