Hi folks,a new recruit to your site.Got a 2.7td maverick on an r plate. It hunts badly on tickover and sometimes stalls. The engine management light comes on intermittently(big word!wish I had said sometimes now in case Ispelled it wrong) apart from that she runs like a dream.anybody got any ideas.thanks,Iain.

Hello bigiain!! welcome to the club,I'm afraid i don't know how to fix your problem but I'm sure someone will be along to help..did you get my PM??

considering the year of your maverick i wouldn't have thought it had a mini fuel filter(refer to workshop downloads) which is a very common problem for poor running. when was your fuel filter last changed? is their air in the fuel system?

had a new fuel filter about 2000 miles ago.Did think about the filter head but it starts first turn of the key every time.Somebody(not a mav owner) suggested airflow meter. What do you guys reckon to that?

There is a mini filter at the fuel inlet to the pump in the banjo, this is different from the main fuel filter you normaly change. there is a down load to help you find it & shows you how to clean this mini filter

Thanks for that will check mini filter at weekend and try to give her a bleed.Let you know how it goes.

if you look in the downloads section you will find a workshop on reading the fault codes from the ecu it should take you straight to the fault

hello! we have a lot in cooomon i dont know whats wrong with it, and i cant spell either!!

welcome to the club!

hunting at tick over

HI BIG IAIN.
next time it starts hunting try pumping the hand pump at top of fuel filter see if that makes engine run smoother.if so its a good indication of low fuel pressure.
could be small filter already mentioned, OR slight air leak at seal around fuel canister filter OR ,cracked fuel line look to see if any sign of wet pipes around fuel tank .when you remove fuel cap do you hear a whooosing sound if so cap is not venting try running without and see if tick over improves.
IS YOUR AIR FILTER IN GOOD CONDITION.
just a few things to be going on with.
IF YOU REMOVE SMALL FILTER BE VERY VERY CAREFULL UNSCREWING
BANJO AS THREADS CAN STRIP .
WHEN REPLACING DONT OVER TIGHTEN
MAKE SURE THE COPPER WASHER IS IN PLACE UNDERNEATH BANJO.

Hi

• Check the air inlet duct and air filter are unblocked and clean.
• Remember to check the wire mesh filter on the air flow meter assembly.
• Remove the air flow sensor and check it is clean and dust free.

DIESEL TREATMENT Millers power plus. is a product i use in tank.

Work every time for me when mine serges.

Could just be a poor batch of diesel.
