.....in the transmission,and got the grand some of half a quality street tin full and a couple of iron fillings on the filler plug,guessin this is why it was whining!

Have you took it for a spin down the road yet to see if it's gone quiet :roll: could be a lack of oil thats been the cause of the whine

½ a tin sounds about right,perhaps a tad low but not that bad. There will nearly always be some swarf on the (magnetic) sump plugs, it's only if they are sizeable bits you need to be concerned

measured it out at 3 pints tho,it s'pose to hold 6.2
