first car we've had with one of these, found switch on dash to limit its height to half,
imagine handy off - road, but ultimately is there an (easy) way to stop it going up
at all. thinking again off road or when only want to play cd. guess motor controlled by
head unit being switched on so if can intercept the feed.

got a cd changer in offside rear panel guess takes 6 discs. appears to be live as hear
motor move when put 'cartridge' back in. presume needs a special/nissan head to use
as in dash is a jvc kd s-723r which doesnt on face of it offer any controls. not too
bothered as will likely go for another head with card reader or usb input for an ipod or
mp3 player. if obsolete will changer be easy to remove?

You could fit a switch in the power feed to the aeriel:thumb2IIRC it's a blue wire on most after market head units which is also used to power up amps so by flicking the new switch you cut the power off to the aeriel :thumbs:D

I was going to say that:thumbs
Took my elec aerial off and fitted a stubby rubber one,for those senior moments when the switch may be forgotten:augie

As Sweety said cut into the blue wire and put a switch in the circuit .
Pity they didn't think of that like isuzu did on the trooper

Richard, I've just changed the changer on mine (like for like) it is held in with 2 brackets. 2 bolts on the body, 2 or 3 screw into the changer.

You take 2 pieces of trim off to get at it. 1st is held by clips 2nd is one screw and lift up and your into the changer.

I had a problem removing one of the screws, some spaniard was a bit heavy handed, had to remove whole bracket:eek:

After a bit of bumping and banging I got screw out as I needed bracket.

Best bit I tried old changer that wasn't working before the banging etc and the twat now works. Only paid £20 for a 2nd hand replacement, so I've t a spare

So if it don't work drop it or hit it with a hammer.:lol:lol:lol:bow

Richard your being abit picky about the aerial:eek: so what if it goes up when you want to listen to a CD:lol it works doesn't it:D:clap

:thumbs

Hi When i put the Alpine unit in just cut the feed wire to the Aeriel and put a switch in line.
As i mostly listen to cd's any way, saves the Aeriell no end of ware and tare but when your
laneing it gong to get a twang when you least expect it, and there expensive.
Just do it makes sense.

Dave you listen to CD's when your laning:eek:

p.s you get my e-mail

just thought having aeriel right down when laning might be handy or in a car wash
assuming it will fit.

what cds will the auto changer take regular or mp3.

do i need a new headunit to drive it or perhaps just a remote control, more likely
forget it, or it come out and go on classified.

Between Dave listening the CD's when laning and you wanting to listen to CD's in the car wash, I give up:doh

No MP3's:nenau

:D

Dont need traffic reports when greenlaning, anyhow always come on when good track playing like yesterday listening to u2 on m1 comes on rds trasffic holdup on m1 yes i know im in it.:nenau

No jockey Mp3 don't sound as good and you cant play them at 1000w :lol

Plus you cant drive legally with both mp3's ear pieces in you will get nicked
well i did, and i was only on a push bike typical :lol

Got to pick you up there! I'd defy anyone to tell the difference between a properly ripped MP3 and the original CD track, especially in a car! If you've used a piece of crap like Limewire to download tracks ripped at 64kb then of course you will tell the difference, they'll be muddy as hell. But ripped at 192kb they are indistinguishable unless you're a genuine audiophile listening on your megabucks stereo..

For £80 you can get a decent Sony head unit that does CD/MP3CD/USB/Aux, allowing you to put any 3.5mm socket-equipped MP3 player in, or a cheap and cheerful 8Gb USB stick....no need for earphones....

And I don't pretend to know what the law says, but does this mean deaf people can't drive?
