finally put a new battery on today . over a year ago the drivers window stopped working , after putting a new battery on it now works ? strange to me. the old battery has been weak for that time too . but i would have thought the alternator would power the windows even if the battery was weak.

A bit odd to me . but not complaining just have to sort the rear windows out now , cus they don't work either

take the door cards off and have a look at the regulators if there jammed its ebay foe you iv replaced both my rear ones

Similar thing happened on my Mini. The headlamp height adjuster on one side packed up. New headlamp unit well expensive as adjuster is part of the sealed unit. M o T man was threatening to fail it. So I suggested adjusting using the manual adjusters that was fine until they started working again on a casual basis!. Then both units packed up.

I fitted new battery when I had some starting issues during cold snap -both worked again. Something to do with the control units in the motors that are load sensitive? Now if one stops working I just charge the battery up overnight and all is well again.

I've found It's always been the motor amature contacts covered with grime, un clip the connector to the motor, take out the 4 screws and take out the armiture. Clean up the copper contacts, a bit of grease on the bearings and worm and away to go. :thumbs
Make sure you put the motor casing on the right way round, otherwise the window direction will be in reverse and you'll have to take it back out and do it again:doh
