Question I forgot to ask on other threads about these...............

Has anyone who's fitted them notice and improvement in fuel consumption? was it by much?

Cheers :thumb2

Oh ............and would anyone who has fitted them please be good enough to post a pic of where theyve fitted the thernostat, and whats the temp it switches at.

Cheers :thumb2

Reason for asking is I'm off to the scrappies tomorrow to pick up a twin fan system off a primera that should fit nicely :D )

Yes, definately better mpg in the winter when it warms up much quicker- in the order of 1-2mpg.

Cut in temp 95 deg, cut out 88 on mine. I have a manual overide switch.

Twin fans struggle to keep it cool enough in the summer during prolonged uphill towing. ( I am running circa 165bhp though)

Tim.

Thanks Tim :thumb2

I'm wondering about the trade offs on fitting electric fans.

The problem I'm worried about is the fact I tow all year round but its noticeable in the summer (havent been into Europe with the terrano yet) that the engine bay of it gets seriously hot and I wonder if leccy fans will handle it. I couldnt believe the temp when I lifted the lid after a motorway tow during Junes hot weather.

I'm putting the oil cooler in after next pay day and I can get an intercooler fan for a tenner from the scrappies on top of the primera ones but I'm not 100% on viscous v's electric.

I reckon I will try it out though :D

Where and how have you mounted the thermostat?

:thumb2

Mine is in the top rad hose in an alloy section with the sensor screwed in. I couldnt find anything suitable off the shelf, so had local engineering shop knock one up. It uses a common-or-garden Ford temp switch, M22 thread.

My fans are alittle weedy, despite being the largest I could possibly fit- they are not what i'd consider proper hardcore when it comes to speed and noise. Something that offered more gale may well help.

Thanks Tim :thumb2

Dave when I had my T2 I asked kenlowe about towing and they told me to refit the viscous fan when towing in europe.

So I told them to poke it and kept my money:lol why charge peeps loads for something that is not up to the job:eek:

:D

Are the nissan primera fans a good fit ? (same radiator ?):nenau

By using the calibrated eyeball (mkI) and a steel rule .....yes :thumb2

I didnt go and get them fter all the indecision, I'm sticking with the standard fan :thumb2

Another good reason for calling a halt for a month or so on car projects was todays requirement to buy a new washing machine :(

Was going to have a go at fitting mine today but ended up changing wheels ad tyres over and cleaning wheels up for sale etc - maybe tomorrow.
