No cons.

Just remove it and get 2 blanks made from 5mm plate, bolt them on with copper rtv

Is I a hard job, can you buy the blanking plates and what's rtv ?? Sorry for all the questions

It's a bastard fiddly job on the td27

yeah...maybe I under exaggerated, it is a bastard fiddly job-but the JOY that thrusts forth from inside when you get that EGR out is great!

anyhoo, yes you can buy the blanking plates, but they don't seem popular on ebay. I made my own-bought some 5mm steel from ebay such as this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150mm-x-1..._Metalworking_Supplies_ET&hash=item2ec6b6840b

removed EGR, drew around the area I wanted to blank. used a super duper jigsaw blade and crudely cut the basic shape, then took my angle grinder to the rest. Decent drill bit will sort the two bolt holes and voila.

You may be able to get some from members on here, Larson might even be able to make you some-drop him a PM.

over complicated, the side of a beer can is enough and easy to work you can punch the bolt holes, there is no exhaust temperature at this point to worry about as there will be no flow of gas, in fact you do not even need bolt holes, just cut a piece that will go between the bolts, the thin section of the plate means over tightening and distortion will not be a problem, simple, Rick

Yes the MOT cannot simulate the states that the EGR can come into operation as long as it is not visually obvious that it is disabled then OK
