ECU fault of Fuel injection timing

HI, my strange fault of loss of power seems to have returned but it now has shown up on the ecu.

the fault only seems to happen when driving off road on rougt ground, and slowly gets worse until the car strugles to do 65kmh, the car runs fine if revs under 2000 rpm but over this the rev counter needle is bouncing all over the place. if you turn the car off for a few mins then everything seems alot better but you can steel feel the ocasion loss of power

the service center had replaced the diesel filters in the hope this cures the problem. all though the car seems fine since they done this going to take the car out for a good few hrs off road to see if this has fixed it.

anyone have any idea if this will actualy fix the problem or what it could be.

If you or someone else can read the fault code on the ecu then the code should point you in the direction you need to go

i would hope that they would last more than 30,000km as thats all the car has driven. but guess i will find out soon

robyice I take it you have looked in the downloads there is a section on these codes, yes I think that unless you have more bad luck than me (not likely) they should last a lot longer.

Depending on the exact fault code, air in the fuel or fuel starvation can on the type of injection pump you have, which I think is a Bosch VP30 cause the pump which has its own ecu in to generate a timing fault error code, if it is either fuel starvation or air in the fuel, left unchecked will damage the advance/retard piston in the pump and the pump housing..

Just to add, you do not have a sensor in No1 injector, timing is worked out from the engine speed/positon sensor and a speed/position sensor within the injection pump.
