The window hasn't been working since the floods last year but I decided to tackle it today (sun is out - unusually).

Now the power is going to the window and the resistance across the coil is fine (1.5 Ohm - the same as the good passenger side) but it won't shift at all. All I can think is the whole assembly or geared motor lump at least has jammed.

So how to I get the assy out? Looked through my R20 manual and this doesn't give me a clue as far as I can see?

1997 2.7Tdi MK2 by the way ;)

No worries guys.........and others ;)

Seems to be the relay unit on the door. Cleaned up the contacts and working fine now so must have been a high resistance grubby contact?

So in case it was not what's the best source for one of those white 3"x2"x1" relay boxes?

Well bless may soul  it's playing up again. It seems to be the plug that goes into the relay unit which when tweaked slightly in one direction causes the problem.

There are no obvious reasons for it so I have compressed the female connectors in the plug to make a firmer contact.......for now! let's see how it fairs this time? 8O

im impressed you are answering your own problems.

how easy is it to get to the inner door?

But useful if someone else has similar issues?

To access the inside of the front door on a Mav (same on a Terrano?).

1. Unscrew large PK screw in the upper part of the grab handle. Lift handle away by pulling the top gently towards you. Remove.
2. Unscrew two smaller PK's down the hinge edge of the panel.
3. Prize the black surround off around the door opening lever and locking catch.
4. Insert flat screwdriver between door and door card in bottom corner and prize off from the door working your way around the side and the bottom until all poppers have poped out of the door.
5. Lift door card from the bottom towards you and the up and away from the seal edge on the side window.
6. Disconnect the electric window control (if removing the drivers door card)

Re-assembly is the reverese blah, blah.

That should do it. Takes me under a minute now
