has anyone needed to replace the lock on a drivers door of a mistal?

how easy is it or "hard"
it has central locking but no fancy key fob opening system.

also is the key likley to be chipped as in a lot of cars now a days.

and finally where would the best p[lace to get one from apart from nissan.

Hi Robobone  what is wrong with the lock :? I've rebuilt a few over the years because they have worn out, I just went to the scrap yard & get a few locks & striped them down & rebuilt one to match the one I had fitted my car. I did this by opening my lock up carefully & matched the locking pin by their numbers or letters to make a new one so I kept the same key

not sure just put key in unlocked door and then couldnt get the key out or lock or unlock the door.

need to get the key out without snapping it off.

are they easy to get to? and with central locking does that cause a problem?

UPDATE
called RAC out to get the key out bit of wd 40 then ton loads of silicon lubricant and bobs your uncle all sorted open and closes like silk

thanks for the advice

Sounds as if your lock has dried up on the inside & the pins have got stuck on your key  But the WD40 & silcon grease the RAC have used will prob keep the lock going for sometime now
When I took the door trim off to replace my front speakers the trim was held on by 2 screws in the trim next to the door hinges, 2 screws in the trim next to the latch, 1 screw in the inner door release handle & 2 screws in the door handle. I used carefully pulled the bottom of the door trim to free the plastic clips & lifted it off at the top of the door. When refitting the door trim it's best to lower the window down to make hooking the top part of the trim over the door easier. Sadly I never looked at the lock bot I woulg guess the lock will be held in place by a horse shoe clip
