Draining the sills

Has anyone drilled better drain holes under the sills. Mine regularly block so I'm thinking of drilling more near the back.
If so, what diameter? David.

I'm assuming you've tried unblocking your old holes, normally they seem to be good enough. Surely danger with drilling the sills is there is little enough good metal to begin with.

I have drilled a sill before now, to cover a rust hole. I put a grommet in hole and said it was a wax oil point.....result!

Seems the old tin worm is a common problem. Maybe I'll just make the original back one a bit larger. David.

Interesting question!!!! I appear to have a few water blisters on mine, I might drill a hole in each one, pop the blisters and smother them in Waxoyl again, I'm waiting for the right weather

I wont make the mistake of doing it on my own drive again and I for sure wont be getting washed off by two women like Alex :lol

Ah cobblers!!!!! Just what I need, how do I go about sorting this this?

Weld new ones on? Where can I get replacments?

Depending on how bad it is you can patch it, you won't know how bad it is until you start cutting the rot out.

There's another thread running on this subject at the moment. My thoughts are a long term fix is to fabricate new sections, preferably folded to shape the outer sill. Easy fix is patch and patch again a year or two after.

if its just a small patch you need, and you do the cleaning up and painting afterwards give me a shout. full sill is too much prep for me at my time of life

Sills rot from the inside. If you can see bubbles your sill's goosed

not all "water blisters" are from the inside. stone chips etc can cause paint imperfections,add to that frost etc. best thing is to burst them and apply a neutraliser or totally rub back and repaint. catch it quick if you can. during my years in the "wilderness" i also did a 3 year body repair and painting c+g course.
