Hi all, my truck is due for the MOT at the end of the month and last year an advisory was some play on the joints of the drag link.

So i decided to crack on with sorting it, rang my local Andrew Page and they quoted me £205.00!!!
I am aware you can get it from Milners for about £90.00 is that the best place to get it?

Also, having had a look at the old one i am a little concerned that i am going to struggle to undo the nuts on the ball joints...anyone have any tips?

below are some pics of the existing one...

That's a good price from Milners :thumbs
Just clean the crap off the nuts , wire brush, WD40 or similar, socket and hammer, job done :D

okay cheers for the response, i will order one and have a crack at it.

If i need to apply some heat can you recommend something other than oxy acetaline?

Decent blow torch but never had to do so . Just undo the nut and then twat the edge of the casting with your hammer HARD then it just pops off :thumbs

I had the luxury of oxy-acetylene in the workshop when I did mine, and you know what, even after heating it up it didn't come out.
What did get it out was hitting it right and by that I mean at the right angle and bloody hard with a big ball pein hammer.

The easiest way to sort the nuts would be with an air gun or electric cordless impact gun (Machine mart look like they do a great one for about £140 at 450NM of torque if you don't have air power) as you have the luxury of buzzing the nuts off straight past the rotten cotter pins once you've snipped the ends off.

Nissan was about the £205+vat when I did mine a few months ago.

Make sure you get the tracking done afterwards.

You wont need to track it if you're only changing the drag link.

I guess mine was miles out to start with, steering wheel off centre and at least 2mm of play with the tracking gauges on it and when shaking the wheels side to side

sorted i will get one of those tomorrow and have a crack over the weekend if the weather stays fine...

Well job done...

I bought one of these:

I also bought the two inner track rod ends, then simply cut off the nuts on the end of the track rods and the drag link and knocked it off.
It turned out to be a pretty simple job and i have to say now i have had it tracked up too it drives much better and takes bumps without a knock through the motor...

That was one of the jobs i had to do for the MOT due at the beginning of December.

Cheers to everyone for the help and advice.
