Hi my door open dash warning light is on all the time. I have removed all 3 switches (swb) and it is still on so I assume it is a short some where has any one else had this or know where to start looking.
Cheers Steve

Hmm not heard that one.. :nenau

I'm share someone will know what to do :thumbs

All controlled from the "time control unit"..
Can be found in the EL section of the workshop manual.

looking at the diagram:
Only the drivers door (U06) indirectly controls the door open indicator via the TCU.
The passenger door and rear door while still indicating to the TCU (U07) that the door is open, a direct connection from these two doors also exists to the warning lamp.

Ray, the drivers door switch is duel pole, one to switch the light, one to feed the TCU for things like "lights on" and "keys in ignition" buzzer.

sent from my phone, sorry for any typo's.

I had this and it turned out to be rear door switch was kaput!!!

Just looked at my drivers door switch and it is consistent with the drawing (single pole) just a single red with white tracer wire.
More Nissan inconsistencies? M/Y dependant maybe?

Must be, when I got mine, the "Lights on" buzzer was not working and IIRC the courtesy light delay was funky, so I dived in like you do when you first get a car, trying to fix everything, and found the switch in just the drivers door had 4 contacts. When I cleaned them up, and tweaked them a little, I got everything back, plus the addition of the "Keys left in ignition" buzz as well. Thats a 2.7TDi 99 Touring spec one.

My drivers door has only a single wire also.
Other thing I noticed today if I leave side lights on and open door buzzer sounds which would indicate switch is ok:nenau so perhaps I need to find the TCU

Is the curtsey light working OK? again, that would prove the switches.

What about the delay when you shut the door, does it take a while to turn out?

Also, don't forget there is another switch under the bonnet, I can't remember if that counts as a door open trigger.

First easy check to do would be to use the built in self diagnostics for the TCU, it is all detailed in EL-180~.
This checks most items associated with the TCU, door switches, locks etc.

Ok just double checked, interior light only switches off with its own switch.
Red warning light is on all time ign is on even with 3 door switches disconnected. I haven't tried bonnet switch yet.
Cheers Steve.

Thanks I will try this tomorrow.

That would suggest that either one of the door switch wires is shorted to ground somewhere...... or the TCU output is permanently grounded.

Just as a silly suggestion, maybe someone has removed the light at some point, and the wire that runs up to the light from the doors is trapped under one of the screws, shorting it to earth.

Ok so I put TCU in to diagnostic mode today & found that problem was with passenger side door.
I removed lower bolt for seat belt and trim panel, it seemed to be the seat belt inertia pinching the wire (must have been removed at some time) I can't see any damage to the insulation but it must have been earthing some how.
So all sorted now & thanks to all that replied to this thread :thumb2
Cheers Steve.
