Meant to post this earlier. My turbo doesn't whistle, the power doesn't increase suddenly at any particular revs, and there's no lag at all anywhere. The old girl just goes like a rocket right from standstill. Albeit a fairly dirty, square, heavy, blue and silver rocket, but it is quick.
Just wondering if there's a quick and easy way to see if the turbo is actually doing anything ?
I've only been wondering about this for several weeks

Take the pipe off the inlet manifold if you want to see if there is a difference I suppose.

With a stock truck you wont feel very much in the way of the turbo spooling. It is there- around 2200rpm onwards you should feel a swell in torque, mostly in 3rd gear and up.

With a chipped or tuned 2.7 you definately do feel the turbo.

Ooooh, chipped or tuned :sly

Will that stop it smelling like a burger bar and make it sound lovely ?

Just wind ya actuator up 6 turns :thumbs
Then you'll hear it whistle :thumbs
DONT go anymore unless you have a boost gauge :thumbs

Errrr.... what's an actuator ? I know less about turbos than I do about the history of Ethiopia from the early 12th century to the time leading up to the start of the Derg lead civil war in September 1974.

On stock fuelling- no point. Infact it will reduce power at the top end.

Its the shinny item in the picy :thumbs
You loosen the stop nut
Remove the sirclip / e-clip
Then wind it in ( anti-clockwise ) 6 full turns :thumbs

Remove the heatshield, 2 bolts on top, 1 down the side & 1 at the back :thumbs then bin it
