Hi Guy's

My SWB 2.4i Extreme has Centrall Locking but I'm not sure if it has Remote Locking or not.

When I purchased it I didn't get any Key Fob's just the keys.

I had the Steering Column cover off last week to fit a new Ignition switch but couldn't see any "box" under there which looked as though it was a sender unit. Although there were I think 2 or 3 Multiplugs hanging there.

Was I looking in the right place if so then I guess I don't have it. Could any of these plug's possibly just need the appropriate box hooking to the end of them for me to set it up?

Does anyone have any pictures of what I should be looking for and where it should be located, just to make sure I'm looking in the right place.

Cheers

What happens when you turn the key in the drivers door lock? I would of expected it to have CL. Does the passenger side have a door lock that you put the key in? The tailgate should have a locking solenoid and surely will be the easiest to remove the trim to check. I guess it is possible that it stopped working so it was disconnected perhaps.

When I first got my 1995 Mav GLX model, it had central locking, but only via the drivers door lock.
I fitted my own alarm with a central locking output, and I fitted a central locking solenoid to the drivers door, from Maplins, approx £10 at the time, a very simple thing to do. The hardest part was running the wiring through the door hinge cable loom.
Yours may be the same.
I hope this helps.
best regards,

Jims-T,

Yes it does have Central Locking and yes there is a key hole in the passenger door.

Can anyone explain exactly where the remote control receiver is normally situated.

Cheers

Hi re remote central locking

I am now on my second Terrano my first being a 1995 model which did originaly have a remote but did not have any provided from previous owner so ended up sending the control box to a place who specialises in replacing remotes and provided me with what turned out to be a lucas remote that is also used wait for it on rover cars believe it or not. However I have since found with my later Terrano that you can purchase remotes as long as it is the correct model and carry out a sequence that enables you to program the new remote to your vehicle with no dealer assistance. Can anyone confirm or explain how it may be possible to ascertain the correct remote as I was fortunate enough to at least have one working remote which enabled me to aquire a spare. Just to mention I have bought two remotes that are incorrect for my vehicle if anyone wants to contact me about these as they may suit another persons Terrano. Hope this helps poster in some way. Andy
