very soon i need to do some welding and im going to have to disconect the battery, problem is my alarms nackered.both fobs dont work and i cant reprogram them.. will i have problems with the nats turning on once i re connect?

thanks in advance larson

50/50 really, but sods law makes it a certainty that it will cause you grief :augie

Disconnecting the battery will not reduce the likelihood of undesirable voltage spikes within the 12V electrical system.
I would not disconnect the battery, the fact that it is connected will help snub any "spikes".

The important thing is to pay attention to is the welder earth connection, make sure it is as close as possible to the weld site and connected directly to one of the pieces being welded, then try and ensure the arc is struck from that piece first.
Do not connect the welder earth any significant distance from the weld site.
Use a spare jump lead to connect across the weld site.

wont this kill the battery?

NO!! not in all my time of welding cars n stuff:thumb2

As mentioned if you keep the earth clamp as close to the weld siteas possible, the current does not need to pass through any othe parts and will take the most direct route....
