Hi all, so after much confusion, i am trying to clear up what oil is best for the diffs and the engine oil.

The net seems to suggest 5W30 (which is handy for me working for a garage full of the stuff) although people on the forum have said 10w40?

also I wanted to know the recomended stuff for my diffs as I am going to be buying it all tonight (thanks to the mrs :lol)

The things I am after

Right engine oil
best front diff oil
best rear diff oil
best oil filter and sump washer

As my sump is leaking would anyone recommend a new sump bolt too? :nenau

Also Dave spoke of a link on here for a £25 quid clutch master cylinder? would anyone be kind enough to point me in the right direction?

Ta as usual :thumb2

I always buy oil filters from Nissan and you can get the sump washer too, Comma oils for diffs, LCD for the rear,
I changed my gearbox oil too, Must use GL4 oil in the gearbox.
Engine, I use Castrol magnatec 10w40

Sheet there's gearbox oil too :doh

I'm not doing my engine oil in a hurry. Lots like my sump has been butchered....

We took out the plug today put a new washer on it and did it back up but it was no good, it made the washer go egg shaped... :nenau the sump seems to have been bodged somehow... :( so we used that plumber tape and a special washer.. Name will come to me...

Right that website has confused me somewhat...

There seems to be too loads of fluids?

Not really sure which fluids i need?

As long as you know where to take them out from, and where to put them back in.:thumb2

There are two oil changes on the gearbox, so two drains, and two fillers.
Main gearbox, and transfer box.

Oh don't forget the clutch fluid too, dot 4 and there is a bleed nipple near to the rear axle.

Brake fluid, anti freeze, power steering, front and rear diffs, grease up your nipples too on those prop shafts.

So did you do an oil change then, you say you took the plug out... oil drains out.
Did you use a new copper washer, if so, I can't see how you made it go egg shaped.

so, after much fishing I have spoken to my work, they have got me the fluids for front and rear diffs, transfer box and gearbox for £60inc vat :naughty if you catch my drift.

and just ordered the clutch master cylinder aswell.

mechanic says the sump is no longer leaking but believes there is still light oil coming from higher up on the front of the block. As we are all v busy here, hopefully we can have a look later :doh

still the majority of the oil leak seems to have stopped which I am releived about.

Any common leaks on the front of the block that spring to mind?

yeah thats why we are worried. The techs here are very good, they took the sump plug out, initially tried with just a normal new washer, didnt work, bent the washer egg shaped, then used tape and washer, still didnt work, had to use tape and a fiber washer to seal it in the end. Seems the sump has been overtightened in the past or something similar??? :nenau

Problem is here, the techs are really good but only have limited time.

Ah, I see, well at least you will get your fluids changed soon.

Remember it MUST be GL4 grade oil for the gearbox, GL5 will wreck the box!!
and LSD for the rear diff
