recently picked the beastie up from the stealers after 2 months of not being mobile.

However, the difflock light is on constantly, regardless of the xfer box lever position.

Also to note, although probably unrelated, the interior light is now non functional when opening any of the doors (Works when switched on), and i seem to have lost several bulbs in the dash illumination, low fuel warn and heated rear screen warn.

Any ideas?

In the light of your running problems, MICE, Rick

what diff lock, terrano is part time 4wd, if lever is in forward position you're
in 2wd. You'd know if not as there would be terrific wind up and feel like no
steering.

4wd switch is bust, find and disconnect til can repair.

sorry, yes, the 4x4 light. Too used to working on shotguns and rot rovers.

Truck is deffo in 2wd, i can spin the front prop by hand (till the auto hubs kick in, so i know they work too!)

Any ideas where the switch is on these?

open= on? Oh great, thats gunna be fun to find!

damn mice!

If it makes a diffrence, it doesnt normally come on until i actually start moving.

fair point good sir. Just need to figure out which mass of wiring relates to the light >.<

there are 5 if I remember correctly switches on the gearbox/transfer box not all are used but where they go once entering the body I have no idea, the first thing you need to do is set a mouse trap and catch the blighter cos they like cable insulation, peanut butter is good, turn your motor out looking for chewed up paper, under the dash, seats any small space but I bet you have one, Rick

well, in searching for the immobilizer fault, i had the dash in pieces, no sign of the critter there, but i shall continue to search!

Might lock a cat in there overnight.....

if you have mice it will be easy to spot, so maybe not, next thing is ground points there are loads and if one goes down then other items seek ground through each other which stirs up a whole hornets nest of problems, good luck, Rick

Sounds reasonable. Oh, and the fuel light does work, but doesn't cone on till the needles in the bottom of the red!

So, where are the main earths, are they clear enough in the manuals?

Ok, New update on the 4x4 light, and I think this rules out mice!

When cold, light is out. Start moving, and it comes on. Dip the clutch, (any gear) it goes out. After its ggotten a few hundred meters, it comes on permanent.

There are no whining/clunking/odd noises in any gear, 2, 4 or 4L box.

check / change fluid in transfer box

I suppose if your oil has turned to tar then this is a possibility, but not come across this one before, yes normal atf no additives, Rick

It's possible, ill give it a go, might change the box oil too, it's deffo mechanical, on/off the throttle/clutch when cold ,so we'll see what happens!
