There are two types C200 and H233, if they differ then whole axle swap required.
Chances are yours (the older one) will be H233 and the newer 05 may well be a C200.

But, whatever you do, you will need to check the ratios are the same!

Easy to identify, old diff bolts in from the front, new diff is part of the axle casing and only has a thin steel cover plate bolted from the rear, Rick

Sold a few like that what i do is sell them front and rear to guarantee the ratios match

It depends on the model is the simple answer the types and ratios are different.
2005 model ratios with C200 rear diff:
2.7 manual 4.375:1
3.0 manual 3.9:1
3.0 auto 4.083
Older models H233B
4.375 is the only one listed in the service manual

Thanks for that, I have no idea in The terrano, all know is its a 05 reg, I'll try and find out more info
