Diesel knock

The diesel "KNOCK" on my Terrano seems to be getting noisy, does this mean a trip to my local Nissan dealer for a tune (££££s) up or does somebody else know different as to what can be done?.

A good dose of fuel additive should quieten it down, a cheap option to try first.

Diesel knock is very rare on these engines are you sure its not just the tappets need adjusting.
There is also another problem that happens with these engines number one injector has a tdc sensor built in sometimes the sensor go faulty and it puts the injection timing out the quick way to check is to swap the wires over in the plug if it makes the engine worse then you need a new injector.
