Hi All,

Has anyone had any dealings with using Miller Oils Diesel4Sport additive with the 2.7TD engine?? I have been using it in my other car and had some great results with increased power and MPG.

I thought i would ask before i add to the Terrano.

I've used it for the last 6 or 9 months in a Y61 3.0D Patrol, mainly because its principal claim to fame is keeping the injectors clean - and replacing old with new injectors in a 3.0D Isuzu Trooper I used to have did make a noticeable difference both to performance and to mpg.

Now that I have a Patrol, I have continued to check mpg for each tankful and there has definitely been no improvement since I started using Millers. There has been no noticeable change in performance either - but the Patrol only had about 15000 miles on the clock when I started, so the injectors were probably clean to start with.

My take on this is that Millers and similar products probably do keep injectors clean. They probably also clean injectors too and this may well result in a noticeable improvement to mpg and performance - but only if the injectors are clogged to start with. If your injectors are new/clean then I don't think you'll see an improvement - but it may well keep your injectors clean and prevent a worsening of mpg and performance. Try it and see ........ I don't think it can do any harm.

I suspect its a bit subjective - I've used the older Millers Diesel Plus and the new version you mention, and I've always felt it adds a little bit of oomph but have never really done proper tests to confirm that....one of those cases where you rely partly on the manufacturers reputation (which with Millers is good) and your own experiences. It certainly never did any harm.

Now a shot of acetone in your tank is another story... :naughty:naughty

Hi Everyone, Thanks for all the input. I did add some to the tank and after it had filtered through it really did start to make a difference. The engine began to tickover a lot smoother and quieter (once the cleaning process had taken place at about 150 miles), but the major plus is the MPG seems to have risen slightly. I'll do a calculation and let you know.

Welcome to the converted! :)

Its worth doing a comparison with premium fuels as well; a lot of people say that the smell of Millers (which lingers like hell so don't spill it in the car!) is a lot like, say, BP Ultimate diesel, leading them to think BP use the same type of additives...

Can't speak for that, but I do notice a difference, similar to Millers, when using BP Ultimate Diesel or Total Excellium Diesel fuel...both are a weeny bit quieter and definitely have a little bit more oomph.

But personally I'm just pleased I got here before Zippy did.... :naughty:clap

Hi Lacroupade,

I've been using the Millers in my Renault Laguna II for a while now and found it to be an excellent additive hence why i asked if anyone had used it in the R20-U. I really notice it when i don't add it, but i also think that this maybe down to the the highly strung EuroIV engine!!!

I suspect you're right; some engines make more of this additive than others....
