Right, my Patrol is in to get an exhaust fabricated so anything goes, what do you do....What would be your ideal system

Side exit

Side exit was always going to be a popular idea but the problem is where to place it. Behind front wheel or in front of back wheel puts the exhaust in a position to get caught when off roading, also rock sliders will be there. Behind rear wheel is possible if there is no steel bumper, but I plan on putting one on so takes away the best place to put the exit.

I also thought of straight out the side wing but snorkle and abs pipes are in the way :doh

Straight through to the back from the turbo 2.5"or 3" no boxes... Sounds lovely and not noisy as the turbo keeps it quite, make sure they put a good flexy joint in just after the dump pipe or it will keep breaking (but they will know that anyway)....:thumb2... Mine next:thumbs

Pretty much what I discussed with them and the conclusion we came too. Biggest thing to get right is the turbo elbow, then downpipe, flexi, then straight to where the rear diff is. At this point we can change things in future if we need, easily swap from there to put the exit at different places, but it will follow the same route as standard but obviously all mandrel bent, up to the floor over the diff then out to the back tucked right up exiting facing down, making sure suspension movement and tyres are not too close. Also thinking of another flexi right at the very back incase it gets knocked so wont bend or damage the rest of the exhaust with an easy clamp on extra length of pipe incase mot testers get caught up on the distance of exit to edge of the truck.

I honestly cant think of any other way. Maximum power, legal, and least chance of getting damaged off road

Sounds good:thumb2
Pics of course:D
Is it in stainless and how many beans do you have to part with.:nenau

Yeah full stainless and with no boxes will be about £350 which is a lot cheaper then I was expecting. :sly

How have you got on with your exhaust installation?
I am interested to know how they got on at the turbo mandrel end?
Best Davey:thumb2

Very well, I'm happy with it and there's so much space under there it was an easy job. Your turbo will be different but it was about trying to keep the same volume of air flowing and puting that air into a 3 inch tube with no restrictions. This is a pic of it just getting put in place and before all getting welded up

This is a pic of mine that uses a cast elbow. Pipe work is stainless 3" bore with one centre box. It has a flex joint just below the elbow.

ooph, that's a nasty bend off the turbo
That one place is the down fall of so many zorst jobs. Spend your beans on binning that for a swept one to get some proper improvement :thumbs

That is a tight bend alright, and is that a fitting for a pyro probe on the casting?
