its a defrag program , which is sposed to be better than the windows doo dah ( never ever worked out how to work that ) ...... used to use vk defrag on my old lappy , but doesn't seem to work on 8.1

in my previous post I said vk defrag ..... I did of course mean jk defrag ( ive been on the radio ...... jim will understand :augie:lol ~)

Don't know about this particular one, but there are several better than the crappy windows one. Some people were complaining of windows 7 defrag freezing or taking upto 7 days... occasionally with a non complete defrag at the end

Be careful of free programs Pete, why would a complete stranger want to give you something for nothing?

You jammy sod contacting VK land:thumb2

Back in the day, a defrag program was an essential part of running a PC. Since Windows 7 these are now integrated into the system.
Also the size of the disc on most PC's means you are not going to worry about the space.
I would recommend you leave well alone. Unless it has a very good "resume" in the event of a interrupt in the defrag, you are in danger of corrupting the hard drive and losing the lot.

A defrag is an important part of keeping your pc healthy :thumb2

But sourcing a good programme is key. As mentioned, don't use a freebie, find the best if your gonna do it and be done with it :thumb2

I would buy a good defrag programme, find the best and be done with it.

I believe a defrag is a very important process for the computer.

It would be like having a library and getting every book off the shelf and never putting them back, when you want to find 50 shades of grey, it will take you ages to locate that one book :augie

Pete, you know what I do for a living and also Clivvy. Wait and see what Clivvy says too.

was on my ft 817nd too :naughty ..... but before you get excited .. was VOI :lol

Defraggler is fine, we use it on some client servers, but to be honest I much prefer JK defrag because although it does use the windows defrag code it uses it MUCH more efficiently and does a much better job. JKDefrag is great because you can run it as you work - it will pause if what you are doing gets too busy to stop the pc slowing down, you can set it up as a screen saver, you can configure it in a number of different ways. Its great, and fast. defraggler is much the same, but its much more GUI based and for me, ever so slightly limited but that's looking at it from an IT perspective.

Defraggler is fine if you want it, otherwise stick with the original JKdefrag 3.36 http://www.kessels.com/JkDefrag/

I've been using the free Piriform C Cleaner for about five years (recommended at the time by Which magazine) with absolutely no problems and started using their defraggler about a year ago, again with no issues at all.
They are free because there is a small element of third party advertising attached to the programme, nothing to cause any concern or irritation, plus with each update they promote their more comprehensive and chargeable options.

well ...... not impressed with defraggler ...... its been at it since last night , and still only 13% complete
