hi guys just wondered if anyone has decatted there terrano or maverick ?

the reason i ask is because my other toy is a bmw 530d and its highly modded for a diesel and one of the 1st things i done was the decat pipe it made a massive difference to the performance.
it spooled the turbo up much quicker

just wondered if i would have the same effect on the truck ?

any thoughts guys ?

it made a massive difference to the performance.

I recon you would have to get one specially made... then your 0 to 60 might go from 16 seconds to 15 seconds!!! ha ha :D :thumbs :thumbs :thumbs

On a serious note with all the sh*t these kick out do you think de-cat'in it would still pass the MOT? :nenau

.

this is the best bit you dont need a cat converter od a diesel and it will pass the mot no probs.

i only know this because my 530d has had a decat pipe on it for 18 months and has passed 2 mots and 2 different garages.

it becomes a problem on the later diesels that have particulate filters in the cat but earlier diesels dont need them.

getting one custom made shouldnt be to much bother its only a straight pipe with a flange at each end.

i dont wish to be the bearer of bad news during the festive season , but i suspect that by removing the cat , and presumably not informing your insurance company of the " mod " .. you wont be insured ....... but ..... i could be wrong

Cant see no reason why not then... as you say, no particulate filters or silly sensors stuck to the exhaust on these :thumb2

With a K&N and new pipe would prob inhale and exhale alot easier therefore by default increasing performance... although it'll never be a rocket ship!!! :lol

.

its not a problem telling my insurance company it mad no difference when declared to my car ins co. all the mods ive done on the 530d they are aware of and makes no differnce to the price.

i think they realise its a diesel lol:thumb2

i do wonder if it will make a difference to performance though ?

No cat on my 2.7TD, never has been, so impossible to remove what's not there. :nenau

In fact heres a schematic to help with pointing it out :augie

Now if you'd had a 3.0ltr Terrano post-2002 or so, maybe a different story, but as far as I'm aware the 2.7TDi never had one I'm afraid......
