He has been here all day today and staying overnight in our touring van, came for a clutch change but clutch fine, but on pressing pedal graunching sounds and knotchy , so looked under while he pressed pedal, clearly coming from slave hose or cylinder, so replaced both, now smooth as you like, as cylinder bore was good have to assume hose collapsing inside causing pressure backup, sorted a few other jobs so good result, but the main reason I am putting this up is, what an absolutely amassing guy, 80 years old fit as a fiddle and we found so so much in common, his only problem is computers tend to defeat him as I am sure he could give great input on here if he could only master the intricacies of the computer world , engine tuning (albeit mini's in the 60s) explicit head detail, racing on the main tracks in the UK and so much more, this guy is a mine of info and so so sensible he has so much to offer, he needs expert advice re how to do the simple things we all take for granted, he is 80 but sharp as a needle, I cannot do it as my very short term memory lets me down, like I cannot remember the exact name of an item he should look at, even after seeing it a few seconds before, Rick:doh

You are an amazing person yourself Rick for fixing his truck up for him and putting him up as well :clap

Sounds like he could be a great help to me when I start fixing the MG up. I'll need all the advice I can get with that one. I think that motor will be just up his street of experience.

oooph, I wish I still had my minis :D
I'd love to do one again, real screamer :sly
anyway, I've read before that the clutch flexi fails internally.
Apparently changing for a braided flexi gives a better pedal "feel".
I know when I changed my brake flexis to braided I was able to feel a much sharper brake action on the pedal :thumb2
