Ok, got the truck back from the MOT and on the way home the dash controls went nuts. I was doing 30mph according to the clock and the revs went in to the red then to 0 and bounced around, never read over 30mph even though i was doing over 60mph.:doh

Any ideas

Ignition barrel probs :nenau
Electrickery connections in the engine bay, possibly after garage undid something and not replaced properly :augie
Halloween gremlins :lol

there is a little nyloc type sprocket as the speedo cable enters the gearbox ...... or is it the transfer box ... cant remember .... but the teeth on that can get stripped , or quite simply its been played with and isnt in properly

Either you had a bad connection, or you just drove over a cliff.:doh

During the MOT, they red line the engine under no load...:doh so vibration could have caused something to break loose. Or bad connection.

that's bad, they are going to ruin cars!:eek:

3000 rpm not red line
i thought that they revved it until it until the rev limiter kicked in...

My mistake.

The MOT station do a disclaimer regarding this, and they are not responsible if damage is done to the engine.:doh

Maybe there's a petrol regime on newer cars with limiters then. I had our puma in for mot on sat and that's a 1700 zetec, it's has a limiter but still only had to hold rpm at 3000 for various tests :nenau

Can't say why, but i know the MOT station are not responsible :naughty.
Im guessing its just a bad conection or something, but thought id check.

But on the good side misty got a full MOT :clap

dash clock not working

Hi,
my dash clock has just stopped working, rev counter, speedo, all 4 dials have stopped working.
all pixels shows 88888.
pls help, any ideas, can it be fix or is it a full replacement.

Have a search around, im sure theres been a recent post about this. Think it's something about resoldering a line of joints on the speedo cluster. Check the downloads section see if there's anything there too.
