Well, after a smashing Chrimmy Day with all the family at our temporary holiday home here in 18 degree Spain, daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren left last night, got 100 yards and realised they had a flat back tyre, flat spare and no jack in their Beemer! (Whatever happened to planning) "Dad, can we take your car please?" So here we are, just me n 'er, Boxing Day and no Terrano, so housebound, c**p on tv, OMG, might actually have to talk to the wife! Who knows when I'll get the car back! Still, suppose that's what dads are for!:nenau

my vehicles are all commercials and so they aren't insured to borrow them, quite by accident of course :augie

sounds like extra points for you, to me, make 'em count!

Insurance over here is a bit different, it's the driver that's insured, not the car, so once you have insurance you can drive anything (thats what I was told anyway). Means I can't use that excuse!

I didn't think things were that different in Bristol :naughty :lol

Bit different in France Terranical - here it's the car that's insured, anyone can drive but if an un-named driver has a claim the excess is sky high! Might be a good idea to check your policy wording with a friendly translator?

That's interesting, thanks for that, I will look into it. When I took out the insurance the policy was worded in Spanish but the insurance advisor was English. She advised me that it was the driver was the insured, not the car - I thought at the time "That's the same as the UK" but she said otherwise and I wasn't about to argue with her. It's up for renewal pretty soon so I will query it then. Also I have since been told it is possible to have an English translation of the documents, so I will see about that at the same time. Once again thanks. Happy New Year.

although technically its driver and car in the UK....OK so some people can drive other vehicles (owned and insured by someone else) third party only, but thats being cut back significantly by the insurers....especially for younger drivers, but some companies are removing it wholesale.
