I bought a DAB Converter Bluetooth Handsfree Music Streaming gadget at the weekend, Nextbase unit from Halfords.

An interesting bit of kit, actually wanted to fit it to the Skoda and pop it into the Truck with a view to getting a second unit if it all worked ok. Anyway opened the box and found that it has a a terrible internal aerial that sticks on the windscreen as well as a magnet section that requires the headlining dropping to fit it. When I actually looked there wasn’t anywhere suitable in the Skoda to fit it so decided to take it back for a refund.

It has started me thinking about DAB radio and the aerials, are they all like that?

I hate things on the windscreen as well, even the sat nav only goes on the screen when I can’t manage. Of course this gadget also had a sucker to fit it on the screen so that wasn’t a good thing either.

Far as I know they're all like that Jim.

The one in the Trol is right down in the bottom right corner and I don't really notice it, don't find it anymore obtrusive than the tax disc was (I'd say much less in fact) :nenau

You don't need to drop the headlining, as long as it's touching bare metal (to earth it) is all that matters.

Well the headlining caused me a problem in the Skoda as it’s a relatively new vehicle so don’t really want to play like I do with the truck. It would certainly be a struggle to even push the magnet and antenna segment behind the lining.

Have been looking on the internet and have found similar antennas but also magmount antennas for the roof and also replacement aerials for the vehicle but again it’s going behind the lining. Have seen a extension cable from china but have my doubts about that too. Would I need to prat about with existing cables to make it fit the new cables.

I think for the moment I’ll leave well alone and put it down to experience.
