I have just received the daytime running lights with auto off, I ordered off E Bay
But I am a bit confused as to how to wire them up,there is a white ,a red and a black wire From the lights
On the box there is a diagram showing the black wire gong to the negative terminal of the battery, and the white wire going to the fuel pump relay.
Thee is no mention of the red wire ?
Any Help appreciated.

OK the regulations are that DRL's must only be on when the engine is running, BUT MUST be off when the side or headlights are on.

So the Red wire would probably go to the side light circuit. BEST GUESS...

Test it, wire it up on the bench, see what happens when you put the red wire on the + 12 after the white is on the + 12 and the black to battery neg, this should make the lights go out.

Hope it helps,
best regards,

what the hell are DRL's Rick

Says it at the beginning Rick . Daytime running light . Led lights on during the day now standard on new cars but can be retro fitted to older ones .

Brian

Thanks Brian but I understood that, what I do not understand is the purpose, Rick

So you can be seen more easily in broad daylight. Someone somewhere has decided it will save lives. Good job someones looking after us Rick or we will all be dead :lol

many years ago when I had my Volvo 940 se turbo , I was fed up of people flashing lights at me and telling me my lights were on ....... I KNOW FGS !!!!!!

The only lights drivers seem to notice are blue flashing ones.:wasntme
And a lot don't even see them.:doh

Another EU bullshit, money making, nanny state scam.:augie

I used to ride my motorcycle with the lights on, still got Richard heads pulling out in front of me and other dipstick antics.:D
If you can't see a vehicle coming at you, with or without lights, you should get your feckin eyes tested.

Mick

Thanks Rustic did just that, now all clear!
For refrance: Black wire negativ, Red wire positive ( to a feed that is livewhen the ignition is on), white wire swich (to side light feed, swiches DRL's off when side lights are swiched on.

it seems ironic to me, the EU want us to drive fuel consumption and emissions down; and yet they want us to have lights on in broad daylight :nenau

I'm pleased you are sorted, after all you don't want any excuse to be pulled over by the police, who may look for other things wrong.

You never know, they might find something if they look hard enough.

best regards,

Rustic
