well I ordered some cree led 501 bulbs and when I opened up the bulb housing I was expecting the bulbs to be pointing down like in a torch - but no they point forwards to the screen and thats why you lose all your power.

So I managed to buy some 4 led cree type 501 bulbs but the led's are mounted on one side and they work brilliantly.

In the picture is the new flat style bulbs and at the top are the older directional ones - which I plan to use in my sidelights - shame I cant see how the small sidelight bulbs pull out though LOL.

Good work. I did my bulbs years ago when there wasn't a direct fitting one. I'll save that link and get some new ones , cheers :thumb2

Sorry makeitfit just seen your title, whats a purple member? :nenau

I know they aren't the brightest but I'm old skool, I'm not a big fan of the LED setup in the front of cars. I like that the cabin lights/map lights have the old type bulbs in because there is just something comforting about the dull yellow tone of the bulbs especially when you've got bong smoke wafting through it :spliff :lol

I have an LED in the rear but that was already in there when I brought it but to be honest I would have done that Mod anyways because of how much brighter an LED is which is useful when you're rooting around for tools :thumbs

That's my insight for the day

And the new flat LED just plugs in ??.
Do you have any photos of what the light output is now

Yep they just plug in and as they are error free they work just fine.

As for a picture to be honest I dont have a before plus camera's lie as a picture taken in the dark the camera will compensate anyway. I can state they are probably twice as bright and its a nice clean white light also as the actual led's all poiont downwards towards the lens in the unit its a nice directional beam.

I have led in the rear with 6 led's on it plus the number plate light is led and my middle light has been replaced wsith my roof dvd player that has twin led lights so its a lot easier inside in the dark now.

Just been out to double check and they floodlight each side now right into the footwells so its a lot better than twice the intensity - the old ones you could hardly see your hands in the dark where as now I could read a book on my knee?

Cheers, I will grab some of those :thumb2

Replaced mine with 5x SND LED bulbs months ago made a huge difference & light things up now instead of having the power of a tea light candle:doh

Now ordered, it would be nice if these lit up when you opened the doors to light the front area on entry.
