crank sensor

Hi all,
Firstly has anybody had to replace the sensor situated between the water pump and alternator on the engine.
I've had intermittent problems with my crank sensor so disconnected this and it stopped the intermittent bit and left the fault light on permenantly. (thus stopping my car bunny hopping)
I assume this is where my sensor is (others have it on the rear of the engine near gearbox (couldn't find anything there on mine))
Anyway got a price for this sensor from my garage they got price from nissan and was talking about £135 (fitting was foc) needless to say this is on hold as im trying to source a cheaper one maybe even 2nd hand any ideas would be appreciated
