Cautionary tale that might make you check; I've owned my 99 plate 2.7 TDi from new and always looked after it, but the poor quality of the window seals always lets you down - just count the "water in my car" threads! About six years in the windscreen cracked at bottom left for no apparent reason, so I made an insurance claim.
Luckily the fitter wasn't bothered and did the job, but pointed out that it was due to corrosion on the bulkhead beneath the windscreen (behind the plastic cover under the bonnet that covers the wiper assemblies) that had expanded and eventually cracked the screen (probably from a leaking window seal). I confess I never looked at the time, but he put some inhibitor on it and suggested I sold it PDQ - as if!
Three years on its just done the same thing again, so suspect I'll either have to just get the screen done again and hope I get away with it, or get a plate welded in, so its worth checking yours. I suspect the jap-built Mistrals are less affected but who knows?
But then fitters are almost as bad - I've had one windscreen fitted in the early days that was so leaky that you didn't need an air vent there was so much breeze coming in at speed - had to get them back to refit it!
As a side issue, does anyone skilled in the black arts know if I'd get away with a bit of welding so close to the screen, or is a riveted plate a better approach - haven't looked so don't know what the profile is like to establish if a simple flat plate can be accommodated.....
