Cracked radiator fan

Hi everybody
I've recently noticed several cracks around the boss of the radiator fan. It's a 1995 Mistral 2.7td by the way.
I'm starting to worry that the whole lots going to disintegrate.
Should I replace the fan, or just put my head back in the box?
Anyone had the same problem
Any advice would be appreciated.

hi cabtone, if you can see cracks i would change it asap, can you imagine the damage it will cause if it parted?, radiator, bonnet, gods know what else.

Rossco in NZ had this problem a few years ago. Can't remember but search the downloads think I saw something about this subject on there.

Yip had the same problem, found it while changing the water pump.
The fan will need replacing ASAP pending on how badly cracked.
Not to bad of a job as you should be able to take the cowling around the radiator off and get to the bolts holding the fan on.
Have a look in the workshop download for the water pump replacement and you can see how it fits in.

posted this problem about 18 months ago.
Followed the workshop data for pump replacement- tried to get the fan off but failed by about 5cm lack of clearance,ended up taking rad out . have some plugs ready for the oil cooler pipes.
