Well the results are in. You may remember a while ago I posted about my 3litre terrano using a lot of water and it not being obvious where the leak was. Well it is now.

Car is in garage and head is at engineers. was hoping a skim and gasket would be the worst of it but am afraid head has 2 cracks in it.:doh:eek:

So my options are sell the car as knackered. Have been offered £1700 for it. The alternative is to get a new head. Nissan are quoting more than the car is worth but have found the one below:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300875769734

Does anyone know the part numbers for the 3 litre head. Don't want to get the wrong one. I guess I will be into about £1500 worth of rebuilding and stripping costs as well (engine needs a new sump). That's if the injectors don't snap off which is a likely scenario with my luck.

The alternative is a new engine which would be about £3000 fitted.

The car cost me £3000 and has only done 85K

It doesn't help that everyone I speak to tells me that these engines rarely have head problems:nenau

Unfortunate mate, hope you get it sorted

I'd get a secondhand head and fit that, after skim/pressure test

Funnily enough I have this on my watch list. The garage is not keen to do the job with a second hand head as they have had things go pear shaped in the past.

My view would be if the head is tested and skimmed by the engineers that they use then it is just the same as what they were going to do to my head.

We are due to go away with the caravan on a week on Monday so the clock is ticking.:(

Its ya only choice tbh mate, unless u want to fork out mega bucks

Only problem would be if the head has been skimmed before, but a decent firm to take off next to fk all and a thick head gasket and I'm sure it will be fine
