I have tried putting a few different types in the fridge before now, ours has a digital display and you can set the temp, if the oil sets like lard be careful in cold weather :thumb2

just add diesel..

or petrol...

that's what I do in the cold

running 60 / 40 at the mo i think

I know you can dewax it, I took the photos to show not all cooking oils are the same viscosity at sub zero temps and the extra strain on the ip will tell eventually. I'll put 5% petrol in the KTC tomorrrow and post the difference.
Haven't got any diesel other than red so won't do the other bottle. David.

About 15% petrol will drop viscosity to that of regular diesel, it'll also stop it waxing down to below what a fridge will get to, somewhere between -5 and -10 I think, can't quite remember now and it still depends on the oil type to start with.

Diesel dilutes it too, but doesn't help so much with the waxing levels.

Generally rape seed oil is preferred amongst the veg burners as it remain fluid at lower temps than the el cheapo KTC soya bean oil. Palm oil tends to come in slices, definitely would stress the IP!

Rapeseed is much better but hard to find at less than £1.20. KTC is still £1 but gels easily and petrol does not help stop this. I will def use it after the cold weather.

I stuck a load of KTC soya in last week and with 10% petrol it was somewhat rough, especially when cold (of course the weather had to remember it's still winter this week didn't it! :doh ). lobbed in a bit od DERV to help out but the best fix was a snake oil sold by Goat Industries called vegiboost - was a bit suspicious until I tried it - now my KTC powered truck runs like it's on regular derv even on a sodding cold frosty morning. :thumbs

Local Makro have KTC in 20l cubies at 18.75 a pop, and Makro own brand rape seed at £21 and some unremembered pennies. Rape seed oil is definitely the better of the two IMHO.

Now I really must get my waste oil filtering equipment setup!

I think a point to remember is that adding petrol to veg also drops the cetane value and should only be added to help viscosity, so adding vegiboost by Goat Industries will help dramatically as this is a cetane improver.

I guess this vegy boost is just for SVO and not needed for bio :nenau

Excellent answer I do like a big bang :sly
I'll order some and see how it goes , cheers :clap
