Just got a 2003 LWB terrano and starting to think it might have been a bad idea.

Just spotted that mount has cracked and was wondering what's the best way to fix? Don't think you can get them over the counter, so is it time to get the welder out?

Was thinking a fix could be to grind down and use a piece of angle to bridge the gap around the mount, but I have heard that it would be better to replace the cup also, as its likely to be mis-shaped.

Difficult to see without cleaning it up. Personally I would be getting the grinder with a wire brush one it and let the dog see the rabbit.

Looks like someone's been there before with Mr Welder :augie
As above, strip it, brush it, fix it :thumbs

I think your right about someone being there before... Looks a bit like the stuff you get in caves!!

I wonder if I would get a weld to bridge the gap.. Will just have to grind down to find out!!

Don't really want to fabricate a complete new mount as my first job before the thing is even on the road...

It "looks" fine to weld from here
Just undo the comp rod bush first then take the rod off the arm. Fill your boots and go for it ;)

what metal do you use for jobs like this? 3mm? Quite fancy giving it a go! Second car, so no big deal to get it back on the road...

3mm is massive, I've not checked for ages mind. I can't measure either as I dont have any. You can just get under there and have a measure though :D
