so this issue has been going on for a long time, the clutch pedal as you work it, slowly goes down and needs manually raising with the foot from underneath.

Im not talking about the "play" in the top of the pedal either, thats a seperate issue. this, i guess, would eventually sink to the floor if it were not for the fact that it wouldnt engage a gear once it gets so low.

Rick was kind enough to change the master cylinder for me, which was manky and filled with dissolved rubber sludge, the seal was also leaking on the bulkhead.

after eliminating this it does feel a bit better, however its still not right.

After meeting Lazy Ferret (clive) on Monday, he mentioned the hose on his had started to balloon when pedal was pressed down, im thinking along the same lines and mayeb the internals of the hose are starting to break down.

Question is, which bit of kit is it worth me getting? the guys at my work can get be a blueprint slave for £44 and I would have to find a hose myself, is there a braided steel version of the hose readily available? if not I'll just buy an Ebay one.

Any help appreciated as usual :D :thumb2

EDIT: i am going to buy both an eliminate the whole system, recommendations pretty please.

Can't you run the truck up on ramps and let someone operate the clutch whilst you lay under and watch to see if the hose expands?

Don't forget on the end of the hose there is a union with the damper pipe going to back of the car over the rear axle. There differing opinion about doing away with this damper or not. I'm sure someone used a brake flexi hose instead of the clutch flexi hose which does away with the damper union.

If I remember right, and you know what my memory is like, but the last one I got for a member on here when we did his clutch, was £17 for the hose, cannot remember slave cylinder, but I would change both, Rick

Thanks guys, yeah my dampening malarky has been blocked off already. And unfortunately I wont get to check properly until next Saturday,so I may aswell just get the bits, judging by the state of my master that had sludge in :doh

I just wondered if there are any updates ones? Already blanked off ect?

If not I will just order standard tomorrow morn.

Lastly I can see a slave for 25 quid, or I can get the blueprint one for 44 (the parts guy seems to think that would be better)

Am no expert but if the master cylinder was all gunged up and only fluid inside everything would have thought the gunge will be in slave cylinder as well and that could be the problem.

Yeah, we did a good bleed last time, but I have bitten the bullet and am doing the clutch slave and hose with new metal box. Not sure how my dampening pipe is blanked off but will need the new box blanked again (or screwed in)

Alex when I bought a new hose I went to a specialist bolt supplier and got a suitable bolt. The supplier then pointed me in the direction of a small engineering company. They then shortened the bolt and also turned the end of bolt to fit the inside of the block. Then gave me a rubber o ring. All sorted for a few pence a nice pack of beer. Easier to get blanked off when it's new and not on the car.

I think you've done the right thing by getting the cylinder and hose.

Yeah it's gotta be done, I'm fed up of constantly lifting my pedal :doh

As my current one is already blanked off im hoping to reuse what is already there. If not I'm hoping one of the guys at my work will have something suitable. :bow

the pre 97 clutch flexi pipe does n`t have the block on the end,
it fits straight onto the pipe from the master cylinder (ADN153906 part no)
no need for any blanking plug

you just have to make a small bracket to fix it to the chassis (or a strong tie wrap)

I had the same problem on a t2 I got.
Driving the clutch would work but slowly would not come up unless I lifted pedal with toes.
I had a slow loss of oil as well.
In the end I cured mine by changing the Nissan part, flexy hose and block,1 item Nissan only out 60 pound.no more problem.

My flexi is already blocked off. But atleast it's the same weeping kinda syndrome, all from that area. After all its a sealed system at the end of the day, if it changes you have a loss of pressure somewhere I guess.

Alex get your new flexi and cylinder stuck on, then you'll of covered all bases. Then you can worry about another fault :thumbs

I forgot to say my flexy had a tiny pin hole in it and when pedal pushed there was a mist vapor come out of the flexy pipe,no oil stain or sign of a leak at all.get someone under and press pedal and you might have the same.
