ok, so its my turn to get the clutch done. Just collected the car from the garage after MOT repairs (drop link and brakes-brakes are now 10 times better, just needed adjusting!!). On the way back, the clutch was slipping more, and I struggled a bit up the main bypass which is a very steady, steep incline!!

anyhoo, I have ordered the clutch kit from Milners, £115 round headlight model, so hopefully I'll have it in a couple of days. I now need to work out what garage I take it to. Ideally, I need a garage that has done these cars before, so they can do it "quickly". I am Huddersfield area, anyone know of any good clutch guys??!:bow

Are you sure the brakes aren't binding ? Try letting it free-wheel down a hill for a bit.

i'll check, but I think its the back brakes they adjusted, as the handbrake was the issue, and is now a hell of a lot better...front discs look very shiny, so at a glance appear to be functioning...

Just got home from Leeds clivvy, I'll have a look for his card when I've had some tea.

Jim

cheers Jim, Martin and Peter, ill ring him tomorrow!

ok, rung the chap, he says £150 labour, I supply the clutch at £123 delivered from Milners. I forgot to clarify VAT, but even if he adds that its only 180...well chuffed at that prospect, and he may be able to do it back end of this week (great, I thought he was going to say in a few weeks!!)

so far, im feeling very relieved about the whole thing, and extremely excited to finally, after 3 years,. getting the clutch sorted!!

Same price as mine matey.

Make it clear before hand you are paying cash:augie:augie

confusing, yours is a 2001 isnt it? Im sure I saw yours, on milners for way less than £200, labour costs would still be the same though id have thought....

this is what I bought, it says up to 2003...?

yeah I just checked your other post, 2001 model....I think things could be way cheaper than you first thought. Give Neil a ring, number above, mention Martin (Larson) and the club pointed you his way, wont mean anything to him probably, but its comfortable.

ok, booked in for next Tuesday, awkward but I should be able to arrange with work to be a little late in....cant wait!!

Clivvy, I'm off work on the 21st if I can help you mate.

Jim

hey, thanks Jim! I'm not sure what to do yet. I am working that day, so I need to drop the car off early doors, so that I can get back to work between 9-10am (i'm working out on site mostly). THEN, I need a lift back to pick it up, but I'm going to ask Anthony at work as he is a Bradford man, so not too far out of his way. If you can help me home Tuesday morning, that'd be extremely generous, but no worries if not as it is a bit early!!

Let us know how you get on with this job please, coming up to 200,000 miles and according to the service book the clutch is original.
Since i bought the truk going on two years ago the clutch has been a constant worry, don`t get me wrong, there is no way it will leave me stranded ,but to much gas to quickly and it slips like a good un (these limitations have helped my fuel consumption tremendously)
The time is fast approaching for replacementand being relatively local(how many miles =local?)

Will do buddy. Mines been the same since I bought it 3 year ago, too must = slippage!

well, dropped off at the Garage this morning, was a long stressful drive as the clutch seems worse to me, unless its psychosymatic! Chap reckons itll be done by tomorrow, or maybe later today. Probably means its going to start being fitted later today. either way Im not fussed, I just cant wait to get it back clutch fitted and I can start driving the car normally for once, yay!!
