Hi all, can anyone help?

tonight on my way home i noticed that my clutch pedal felt a little strange, when you begin pressing it for about half of the pedal travel there is nothing there, then you press it further and the usual pressure is there.

The clutch seems to work okay but then i had a look for any leaks and although i couldn't find any obvious ones the reservoir was almost empty, so i topped it up.

what i did find was what looks like a little damp area back near the back axle...

how do i bleed it to get the air out, cos i have seen at least two bleed nipples

use search tab , loads of posts on clutch probs

Common problem, there is a damper pipe that runs from the clutch to the rear axle area.

Remove the pipe and refit a ball bearing and the original nut, to seal the line.

You don't need the damper line.

hi, might also be worth checking the clutch pedel bracket as this can crack and give the clutch a strange feeling, however this would not explain your fluid loss, unless it is leaking out of the piston " underneath the resevoir.

Yes follow Rustic's advice, it sounds like you have a corroded damper pipe and it is leaking, do away with it, Rick

Hi guys, thanks for your replies.

So let me get this straight all i do is remove the pipe put a ball bearing into the hole where the union came out and then put the union back in....any idea how big the ball bearing has to be and where is the best place to get one?

can i not just put a bolt in there with some kind of sealant on it like ptfe tape or summat?

Yes if you can find one with correct thread then PTFE tape or better is locktight 55 string sealer, ball bearings can be hard to find if you are not in the mechanical trade so to speak, Rick

is the locktite stuff easy to get hold of?

If i take the union out and take it to a local nut and bolt supplier will they be able to match summat up do you think?

most plumbers merchants will have it, and yes take the pipe fitting to a bolt supplier no problem, Rick
