hey chaps,

had this kind of "clink" noise on the Maverick for ages, and as im due a clutch change, thought I might get it checked. it sounds to be "central", sort of under where I sit. I can see some rubber bushes in the linkages, should these be replaced? thats the ionly thing i can think of that might make that sort of sound. also, while the guy is at it, any other bushes I should replace, and will this improve the ride at all??

cheers dears!

Check your exhaust brackets. I had one around passenger seat area that broke and also had the same one come loose a few years ago with the same noise. It's a bit like a u clamp.

ill have another look Jim, I half looked yesterday but didnt really get to the section of exhaust under the passenger seat area, so ill try again. its not a constant noise or anything, just when perhaps the Mav really rocks forward on hard breaking, or VERY rough ground, even then its not constant..

That's the one that comes off the gearbox that you have to fit double locknuts on the "u" bolt part. It comes loose, fractures, or both.

ahh, is it round the gearbox area?? sometimes, I have thought it was gearbox area judging by the sound, i hope it is as simple as the exhaust bracket :thumb2

ok, did some investigations today. the noise i get seems to be more to the drivers side front, and I can make the noise happen if i bounce the front wing, i just cant see what is clinking. its very metallic, almost like a heat shield but the noise isnt as deep, if that makes sense. I think probably best idea is to get someone to help me, so I can get my head under there while the other peson bounces the wing up and down...!! its a mystery!

I'd look at the anti-roll bar drop link, it might not be the actual joint, but the nut/bolt holding it onto the ARB might be loose.
Mine clicked last week so I tightened it up.
In fact the bolt on mine has a 5mm AF allen socket in the centre, then use a ring spanner to tighten it.
You can see/hear the movement when moving the ARB from underneath.

Hope this helps.

Fex and Rustic, I was trying to seeif it was the ARB, it certainly SEEMs to be, but its new, as are the drop links, and im sure I had this noise before having them changed earlier this year BUT, ill have a look and do some tightening, if it makes no difference, ill do a video to show you what i mean!!
