Has anyone else experienced discolouring on the face lifted (chrome grilled) Maverick bumpers and if so is there anything that fixes it?

I can get mine reasonably clean with specialist bumper cleaners but they soon revert to the discoloured and dull speckled pattern.

Thanks

Johny

Mine has done the same but it's older than yours. I've tried back to black etc with a not to bad finish, but around the fuel cap it keeps turning gray  So i'm still on the hunt for something to turn them 100% black for a while

Always used Meguiers Trim detailer on my show cars but for a cheap option use smooth peanut butter.

No I'm not kidding, the oils in Peanut butter last ages.

Peanut butter on bumpers

Struth I'd go out to the car park in the morning only to find stray dogs licking my bumpers,

I can get my hands on a bottle of peanut oil in the kitchen, If I sneak it past the wife, and deposit some on my vehicle, I should get the same results What you think ,Alzay?

I'll give it a try but will have to keep an eye on my dogs incase they try & eat my bumpers

Thanks for the advice... Peanut butter hey?

I did find that 3in1 Oil works ok too but again it only lasts about a day!

My mav is 1997 by the way so is quite old.

Take it out, get it muddy - leave it that way, - works for me.

Johny - where abouts in Yorkshire are you? Fancy coming along to the green laning weekend at the end of the month?

Sheffield.

Don't mind getting it muddy but like to keep it clean.

Always up fo a bit of off-roading but baby is due any moment and not sure how popular I would be if stuck somewhere. That said if it's late it might be a good way to get things moving!

If I don't make it at the end of the month I will soon. I take it that it's all non-damaging stuff?

All non damaging, except a couple of scratchy bits than can be avoided (did just that this weekend 2 of us did the scratchy but 2 went round).

Amy, who's 9 months old in a couple of days has been coming out green laning with us for a good long time now, definitely from 4 months but it might have been earlier, can't remember - so you needn't be stuck at home for too long.

PS where are you?

I use ARMOUR ALL( Wilkinsons stock it), keep putting it on and on etc after a while gets it back to original.

Give it a try I bet your surprised.

I have used a good quality cut and polish on the bumpers on the Mistral with good results, but I haven't tried peanut butter on the bumper, mind you the kids seem to do a good job with spreading peanut butter around the house at the best of times
The other one to try is Glycerine as in the oil, not the nitro version.

Nitro version sounds a good idea, if anyone bumps the car while you're away...
They will still be there when you get back... or a least part of them..

Hello again.

Did anyone try the peanut butter on their bumpers as it has been over a week since this come to light.

Would be pleased to hear if it worked.

If no one has, then a trip to the supermarket is in the pipe line this weekend and one of the old Maverick bumpers off one of the old motors here is going to get it!

Mav.

Does it matter where the peanut butter is made, because I hear China is putting anti freeze in toothpaste so I wonder if they are putting polish in peanut butter ?
Mind you soya bean as synfuels in the tank, peanut butter on the bumper, toothpaste for anti freeze, I wonder what is in the cupboard next, licorice for tyres 8O

No wonder the grocery bill is high
