What a fantastic brilliant workshop download.
I like your description of possible faults which would lead to this cleaning operation, and the information on the Bosch one.

But not only that, but recommended cleaning products.
There have been so many posts suggesting every solvent under the sun, clearly some are more suitable than others.
To be able to go to a local Maplins and buy some... great.
This contact cleaner solvent is also good for... wait for it...
Cleaning contacts... on switches and relays,if you have access.
It leaves no deposit, and I have been using this or similar in many applications in the electronics industry. (More so after Genclean was banned).

the link wouldn't work for me? so I went to the downloads section and none of them will open on my pc for some reason? any ideas please?

when you click the link, it automatically tries to either open, or download. Could be you have a blocker, or you are missing a message or something like that. Try Right Click the link, then choose "save target as" it should allow you to download the PDF....
