Funny, that's exactly what I looked at before going down the manual road :thumb2
bit too cheap for that power, but if you only use it once or twice maybe OK, my 13000 lb winch has been used tens of times and at long winch times as well, and still going strong, Rick
You reckon its crap?
Look at this as it's a much better deal :sly http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/13000lb-R...593?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3a8a90eff9
Synthetic rope is lovely to work with, Especially when respooling.
Only time I use wire now (if I had some spare) is when pulling logs out etc
Not sure if Synthetic rope would work on a hand winch some how don't think it would. With a power winch Alex if the steel cable snaps it tries to coil up again & can whip all over the place & if it made contact with a person it could easily cut them in half or kill them, it can also recoil so hard the cable could come through the windscreen but luckily as Rick said he was using a synthetic rope when his snapped & it just dropped straight to the floor. when using steel cable it's best to put something over the line like an old jacket etc so if the cable snapped the weight help to pull the line down to the ground. Recovery no matter how your doing it has a high risk of danger because things can break/sheer. I don't like anyone in between the 2 vehicles even at the sides when I do any recovery just incase something was to let go
Another good reason to use shackles not bloody hooks :doh
You'll be fine with yout Tirfor though, as it has a shear pin that'll go long before the wire does![]()
