Just bought a second hand instrument cluster to replace the faulty one in my 2001 terrano. The one i bought is from a 2003 model and is slightly different, the plugs are different and it has 2 reset buttons on the front wheras mine only has one! Will it still work if i change the plugs over on the wiring harness. I don't really like the idea of cutting the old plugs off and joining the others on with chocholate blocks, has anybody done this swap before?

Personally I would use correct cluster rather than mess about with something like that. What's wrong with the old one? I had a cluster for a renault repaired by a company in Nottingham a while back and thought they were pretty good. Look for a thread called Willows Good Garage Guide as I posted the details on there.

i'm with jim, i wouldnt be cuting and soldering wires in the loom unless you know exactly what's what, you could potentialy cause a whole lot of problems. Unless soe one else on here knows better of course

I had the classic fading digits on a 2002 TII and acquired a similar looking but different connector unit from a 2005. The upshot of a lot of research for that one was that it was not compatable and resoldering at that level is not worht the effort if possible to do.

Sorry :nenau
